Hi, I'm Joy and I'm the founder of Safari Adventures by Joy. Here's my story.

Though I was born and raised in England, my heart has always belonged to Africa. From a young age, I was captivated by African wildlife, conservation and adventure, but it wasn't until I turned 40 – 20 years ago! that I finally set off on my first solo trip to Kenya. That journey changed my life forever. I was incredibly fortunate to meet a wonderful Maasai family who welcomed me into their fold, making me feel like one of their own. Since then, I've lost count of how many times I've returned to Africa, sometime visiting three to four times a year, staying for a month at a time.

One of my most cherished experiences was spending three months volunteering on a wildlife conservancy in Northern Kenya, an adventure that will stay in my heart forever. Over the years, I've travelled independently across Kenya and Tanzania, experiencing everything from high-end luxury accommodation to local Kenya hotels. But my personal favourite? Camping. I have my own equipment and love venturing out with just a Kenyan friend to help, to explore wild, untouched landscapes-places few travellers ever get to see. Of course, I know that's not everyone's cup of tea! So, unless you have a burning desire for a true off-the-grid adventure, I'll happily stick to more conventional options.

Through these experiences, I've gained first-hand knowledge of East Africa's most breathtaking landscapes, hidden gems, and unique travel experiences. My deep love for the region has led me to help family, friends, and colleagues plan their own unforgettable journeys, using my local expertise to craft meaningful adventures. Now I want to share that same passion with you.
